A plastic material and resin manufacturer requires explosion resistant equipment in their facility due to air born vapors from their manufacturing processes. The lifting system initially used to hoist bags of materials from one floor to another with a single hook hoist to lift a wire meshed cage through a vertical shaft. However, it didn’t control the cage from spinning during the hoisting process. This uncontrolled lift caused safety issues with the cage catching obstructions in the shaft way during the vertical lift. The company made a decision to find a solution to address the safety issues associated with handling materials in their hazardous environment.
The company explored various options to help keep the wire meshed cage aligned during the lifting operation but they soon realized they needed a solution provider that was knowledgeable not only with material handling equipment installations and also with installing in hazardous environments.

This lifting system with its synchronous twin hooks now provides a true vertical lift and a stable hoisting platform for the bulk cage. Because of the controlled lift, the cage no longer spins or catches on obstructions.
The company also purchased from ELS a Pre-Start Health & Safety Review (PSR), a specific audit of the equipment installed that documents safety, evaluates potential hazards and identifying how to bring deficiencies into compliance with safety standards.
